Arsenal vs Sevilla lineups, starting 11s and team news for Champions League fixture

July 2024 Β· 3 minute read

Arsenal are top of their UEFA Champions League group going into this vital clash with Sevilla, and can take a major step towards the knockout stages with a win.

After two victories and one defeat from their three games so far, the Gunners are in a fairly strong position to qualify from Group B, but Sevilla are always a tough nut to crack in European competition, especially for English sides.

Mikel Arteta's side go into this contest at the Emirates Stadium on the back of successive defeats, losing to a controversial goal in a 1-0 reverse at Newcastle on Saturday, after being soundly beaten 3-1 by West Ham in the Carabao Cup. Sevilla, meanwhile, have endured a mixed campaign both domestically and in Europe, drawing 1-1 with Celta Vigo in their most recent outing.

The Sporting News looks at the team news and confirmed lineups ahead of this match.

Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe are all long-term absentees for Arsenal, while concern remains over the fitness of Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian playmaker has been absent from the past three Arsenal starting lineups.

Eddie Nketiah has been leading the line of late but missed training ahead of the game and is absent with a knock. Leandro Trossard starts up top with struggling Kai Havertz seeing another opportunity in the middle.

Sevilla are without veteran centre-back Sergio Ramos, who is carrying a calf injury, for this one. Marcao and Alfonso Pastor are also sidelined for the Spanish side, while goalkeeper Orjan Nyland misses out with a hip injury.

Below are the starting lineups for both teams ahead of their match at the Emirates Stadium in north London.
